Code of Ethics Education

Canopy Real Estate Institute's Commitment to Professionalism and Ethics

At Canopy Real Estate Institute, we are committed to promoting professionalism, integrity, and ethical conduct throughout the real estate industry. In alignment with the National Association of Realtor® (NAR) and the Canopy Realtor® Association, we support Realtors® by providing the education and resources necessary to uphold the Realtor® Code of Ethics and maintain the highest standards of professional practice.

Why the Realtor® Code of Ethics Matters

The Realtor® Code of Ethics distinguishes Realtors® from other real estate licensees by establishing a higher standard of conduct and accountability.  Through adherence to the Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice, Realtors® demonstrate a commitment to:

  • Protecting and promoting their clients' interests
  • Treating all parties honestly and fairly
  • Supporting equal professional service and opportunity
  • Maintaining competency and professionalism
  • Resolving disputes through established professional standards processes

By completing ethics training and applying these principles in daily practice, Realtors® strengthen consumer trust and elevate the profession.

NAR Code of Ethics Requirements

The Realtor® Code of Ethics is the foundation of professionalism in real estate. Established in 1913, the Code outlines the duties Realtors® owe to their clients, customers, fellow Realtors®, and the public.   As a condition of membership, all Realtors® are required to complete Code of Ethics training every three years.

Current Cycle: January 1, 2025 – December 31, 2027

Deadline to Complete Training: December 31, 2027

Note: Training must be completed at any time during the established cycle. Failure to complete the Code of Ethics requirement during the cycle will result in suspension of Realtor® membership for January and February immediately following the deadline, with termination of membership effective March 1 following the cycle deadline.
